Now let me say this is a young adult read lol I know that may turn some people off but I really enjoy ya. Being a southern girl I also liked that this book took place somewhere that was familiar to me. This was a different take on demons and sin, in a way it humanized “some” of the demons. I also enjoyed the fact that there wasn’t a love triangle and no childhood friend that has been in love with the leading character forever. With all that being said I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars and I didn’t hesitate to go ahead and purchase the rest of the trilogy. Let me know if any of you have read this and your thoughts. HAPPY READING YA’LL!!!!!
Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she’s anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses.
Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she’s crushed on since forever.
Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she’s not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn’t an issue, considering Roth has no soul.
But when Layla discovers she’s the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.
Before I started this book I was in a reading slump and since the Lux series by Jennifer Armentrout was such a fun easy read I figured I’d give this a shot. This book definitely got me out of my slump lol so much so that I finished the entire series in a week. This was an interesting take on demons and angels while still giving us the normal troupes we’ve come to love in ya. If you are a fan of ya paranormal you should read this. I gave this book 4 stars and I’m so glad I read it. If you’ve read this book I’d love to hear your thoughts. Happy Reading Y’all!!!!!!
Georgie McCool knows her marriage is in trouble. That it’s been in trouble for a long time. She still loves her husband, Neal, and Neal still loves her, deeply — but that almost seems besides the point now.
Maybe that was always besides the point.
Two days before they’re supposed to visit Neal’s family in Omaha for Christmas, Georgie tells Neal that she can’t go. She’s a TV writer, and something’s come up on her show; she has to stay in Los Angeles. She knows that Neal will be upset with her — Neal is always a little upset with Georgie — but she doesn’t expect to him to pack up the kids and go home without her.
When her husband and the kids leave for the airport, Georgie wonders if she’s finally done it. If she’s ruined everything.
That night, Georgie discovers a way to communicate with Neal in the past. It’s not time travel, not exactly, but she feels like she’s been given an opportunity to fix her marriage before it starts…
Is that what she’s supposed to do?
Or would Georgie and Neal be better off if their marriage never happened?
This was actually my second attempt at reading this book. I am a huge Rainbow Rowell fan and when this came out I purchased it on Audiobook so that I could listen while I worked out. I did not like it and stopped listening less than halfway. The beginning of the year I was reorganizing my ebooks on my Nook and came across this book so I decided to give it another chance. Boy oh boy am I glad I did!!!! I loved it and I felt like I could relate so much to Georgie and Neal. I don’t normally read “Adult Fiction” (thrillers and sci fi yes) because I just feel like I don’t always want a sex driven plot. The author was able to give me exactly what I wanted. Rainbow Rowell showed adult relationship both work and personal in honest light. I would definitely recommend this book. I gave it 5 out of 5 stars. Happy Reading Y’all!!!!!

A convict with a thirst for revenge.

A runaway with a privileged past.
A spy known as the Wraith.
A Heartrender using her magic to survive the slums.
A thief with a gift for unlikely escapes.
Kaz’s crew are the only ones who might stand between the world and destruction—if they don’t kill each other first.
I purchased this book simply because I liked the authors first series but I was in no rush to read it. Well I picked up this book and wanted to kick myself for not reading it as soon as I bought it. I loved all the characters, the plot, the writing, and I was even surprised by a few twists. Ugh and that ending has me anxiously waiting for book 2. I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars. If you like action and a unique world definitely pick this up. In my opinion this book is far better than the her 1st series.
